The mission of The Basilica School of Saint Mary is to nurture saints, stewards, and scholars.

Saints - We nurture sanctity by leading students to know, love, and serve God, forming hearts that grow in virtue and holiness through grace.
Stewards - We teach students to recognize their lives and talents as gifts from God, to be cultivated with gratitude and shared generously in service to Him and to others.
Scholars - We form minds that seek wisdom through wonder, delight in the beauty of God’s creation, and pursue truth with discipline, clarity, and joy.

Educational Vision

Each student entrusted to us is made in the image and likeness of God and possesses infinite dignity. As Christ teaches us, “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40). At The Basilica School of Saint Mary, we recognize the sacred dignity of each child and understand that, in answering God’s call to teach here, we are at His service.

Every student is blessed with gifts, some already known and others yet hidden. In partnership with parents, we seek to cultivate both the visible and hidden gifts of each child, helping them to develop these gifts and offer them back to God in loving service to those around them.

Parents are the first and most important teachers of their children. We partner with them to continue the good work they have begun, forming their children intellectually, morally, and spiritually. Together, we labor for the sanctification of our students. As the largest apostolate of the Basilica, we are committed to supporting families in this sacred work.

The teacher’s role is essential in the educational process. The relationship between teacher and student fosters wonder, the pursuit of truth, the desire for the good, and an appreciation for beauty. Teachers are instruments of grace in the proper development of the child and cannot be replaced by technology.

All studies within our curriculum are united in a coherent vision rooted in truth and guided by faith. Through the study of creation, we come to a deeper knowledge of the Creator. Learning at The Basilica School is not simply the accumulation of knowledge or the mastery of skills, but the formation of wisdom. Through structured instruction, teachers guide students toward a deeper understanding of the unity of truth.

Teachers teach not only by instruction, but by the witness of their lives. Every interaction matters, whether in the classroom, the hallway, the playground, or on the stage. Our faculty model faith, charity, and virtue, leaving students with examples and memories that help shape them for a lifetime.

We are a community, and this is home. Students, teachers, staff, parents, and priests are united by the relationships formed here, finding their highest expression in the celebration of the Eucharist. These family-like bonds teach us to go beyond ourselves in charity and self-sacrifice. Here, students are known, valued, and loved.

We desire greatness for our students. We seek to form them to excel in their work, value what is good, and pursue lives of meaningful service. Yet we know that true greatness is found in their response to God and in their love of others. We help them to know, love, and serve God in this life so that they may be happy with Him in the next. Our eyes remain fixed on their eternal destiny. This is our vision, our hope, and the ultimate end of all that we do.
