Catechesis of The Good Shepherd
I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.
John 10:14-15
What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) at The Basilica School of Saint Mary is a Montessori-based religious education program for students in pre-kindergarten through second grade. It takes place in specially prepared spaces called the Atrium and the Grotto, which were created for children to fall in love with God.
The Atrium: A Sacred Space for Spiritual Discovery.
Your child will be immersed in a thoughtfully prepared environment where they can:
Wonder about Christ's presence in the Scriptures and Liturgy.

Listen in stillness and silence to hear God's gentle whisper.

Rest in the unconditional love and guidance of the Good Shepherd

Through weekly participation in the CGS, your child will spend quiet time in prayer, discover the beauty of the liturgy, and reflect on the mysteries of the Kingdom of God and the "Good news of great joy!“ (Luke 2:10). Sessions are led by professionally trained and certified teachers for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
