Admissions Dates and Required Items

Once all application requirements have been received and processed, you will be emailed a confirmation.

To apply to multiple schools in the Diocese of Arlington, including The Basilica School of Saint Mary, you may use the following system as well. However, all applicants must complete the Basilica School of Saint Mary application in addition to the Diocesan application.

Only one application per student please.

Please note that, an applicant's packet is not considered complete until all requirements (detailed on this page) have been submitted and processed.

2024-2025 Application Fee - BSSM

 A copy is required with your application and may be uploaded directly into the parent application portal.

After acceptance, the original birth certificate must be presented to school office personnel for verification.

Catholic applicants only. This includes Baptismal certificate and First Communion (if it has been received).

 Applies to those students applying to grades 1-8. Must be submitted directly into the parent application portal by the applicant’s current school. Include current and two previous academic years’ (minimum required), report cards (including comments), and standardized test scores.

 These records must be received before a student can be evaluated for acceptance.

The student evaluation form should be completed and submitted to the parent application portal by your child’s current teacher. The form must be received before a child can be evaluated for acceptance.

This form must be completed by the parish office where the applicant is a registered member and submitted directly from your parish into the parent application portal. 

 Immunization record is required with the application.

The Commonwealth of VA School Entrance Health Form must be uploaded to the parent application portal prior to the start of school, but is not required to make the application complete.

A copy of the custody decree must be uploaded to the parent application portal demonstrating custody and/or legal arrangements, if applicable. 

If the applicant has been tested or evaluated for any disability, English as a second language or medical condition we ask for additional information to be uploaded to the parent application portal.

If applicable, upload a copy of IEP, 504 plan, Student Assistance Plan, Speech and Language Evaluation, Psycho-educational test results, Special Ed Child Study, Special Ed Eligibility Date from base public school and Special Ed Triennial.

If the applicant has ever been suspended, dismissed, expelled or not permitted to re-enroll in a
school we will require you to upload additional information.

Applicants to kindergarten will be required to complete a kindergarten readiness screening with staff of The Basilica School of Saint Mary.

Applicants will be emailed information on the screening process in January and sessions will be scheduled with each prospective student.

Admission to the middle school at The Basilica School of Saint Mary 

Applicants to grades 6, 7 and 8 may be asked to visit with the Principal or Assistant Principal as a part of the admissions process.

If applicable, applicants will be invited via email after completing an application packet and prior to admissions decisions.
