Choir

Whoever "sings, prays twice" - St. Augustine

Choir is a wonderful way for students to explore musical, spiritual and vocal development!  Our school proudly offers three choir opportunities for our students: an "all school" co-ed choir for grades 4-8; and two middle school choirs, one each for girls and boys.  More information about these choirs is set forth below:

ALL SCHOOL CHOIR

Students of all ability in grades 4-8 are invited to join The Basilica School of St. Mary Choir. Participating students will experience how to prepare and learn music for Mass, as well as deepen their knowledge of the Mass parts while developing their knowledge of vocal technique. Choir students also will have an opportunity to perform sacred choral music and other styles of choral music from different time periods and genres.

The school choir sings at:

  • First Friday Masses at the Church
  • Sunday Masses at the Basilica once a month
  • Lessons and Carols
  • Diocesan Music Festival
  • School concerts, programs, and events

Rehearsals are after school on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:30 pm.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIRS: Girls and Boys Choirs

Middle School girls in grades 6-8 are welcome to join the Middle School Girls Choir, and Middle School boys in grades 6-8 may join the Middle School Boys Choir. For both choirs, rehearsals are during the school day at Advisory Time. Both choirs have opportunities to sing at different school concerts, events and Masses. Participating students will experience how to prepare and learn music for Mass, as well as deepen their knowledge of the Mass parts while developing their knowledge of vocal technique. Choir students will have an opportunity to perform sacred choral music and other styles of choral music from different time periods and genres.
