Board Members (proposed)
Jonathan Day, President
Jonathan Day has been a member of the HSA board since his daughter was in kindergarten. Last school year, he was the Vice President of the HSA board. He has a daughter, Valentina, in 4th grade and is the coach of her CYO basketball team.
Jonathan currently serves as a Chief of Staff for a Member of Congress.
Originally from Upstate NY, he attended The American University and has been awarded fellowships from Stanford’s Hoover Institution, President Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and he was Stennis Congressional Fellow.
Sarah Lyle, Vice President
Sarah Lyle will be serving as the Vice President of the HSA Board. Sarah and her husband, Brian, have been parents at St. Mary’s for over nine years. Their oldest child graduated last year. Their youngest child will be in fifth grade. Sarah has served on the board for many years—most recently the past two years as the HSA Treasurer.
Outside of the Basilica School community, Sarah is the President & CEO of an organization dedicated to preventing damage to underground utility infrastructure. She also volunteers her time at the Basilica and serves as a coach for local youth sports. In her free time, she enjoys watching her children play competitive sports, playing golf and travelling.
Joseph Young, Treasurer
Joseph Young began his career in wealth management in 2004. As a Senior Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region, he oversees four wealth management offices in addition to serving as a Senior Wealth Advisor to the firm’s high net worth clients. Joseph is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and the Mercer Advisors Investment Committee. Prior to joining Mercer Advisors, he worked at Merrill Lynch as a portfolio manager and senior wealth advisor. He holds dual Master’s degrees in Finance and Business Management from Johns Hopkins University and is a Certified Financial Planner. Joseph lives in Alexandria with his wife and three children.
Erica Dempsey, Secretary
Erica Dempsey is serving in her second year as Secretary to the Home and School Association Board. She is a proud mom to a fifth grader and kindergartener. Originally from New Hampshire, Erica has worked on Capitol Hill for over 20 years.
She and her husband spend their free time with the kids at youth sporting events, Scouting adventures, dance studios, re-learning critical elementary school math and science skills, and introducing their son and daughter to all the Capital region has to offer.
