Sick Child
Students who are ill do not focus on educational instruction. Do not send your child to school if they have the following symptoms: Fever and low grade fever (99.8 F and above) signs of flu: cough, chills (fever), muscle aches and malaise, vomiting, diarrhea, exhibiting red eyes with discharge, head lice, unexplained rash not related to plants. It is best to contact your child’s pediatrician when they are sick for guidance.
Students may return to school if they are fever-free without the use of Tylenol or Advil, have had at least three doses of antibiotics for strep throat, or other infectious disease with no fever, and have not vomited or have diarrhea for twenty–four hours.
Students who become ill or injured while in school
Students will be given medical care in the clinic, located across from the main office. Parents, or the emergency contact person (if parents are not available), will be contacted by the nurse to pick up their sick or injured child. Students are to be picked up from the clinic within 30 minutes of being notified.
Students who have sustained an injury
If your child has sustained an injury and requires the use of an orthopedic device (sling, boot, cast, crutches, etc.) parents must provide a physician's note upon the student's return to school, detailing the nature of the injury, the device needed, and the anticipated duration of time needed to refrain from participation in PE and recess.
Elevator use in the middle school building
If your child requires the use of the elevator in the middle school building due to an injury, this must be included on the physician's note.
