American Heritage Girls (AHG)

St. Mary's Troop 0325

Are you ready to see your daughter’s dreams take flight? American Heritage Girls allows girls to experience new challenges, serve others, make new friends and have tons of fun, all in a safe, faith-filled environment. Whether your daughter wants to learn more about aviation, learn to paddle a canoe, or ice the perfect cake, AHG’s program is ready to inspire her to new heights.

Any girl age 5-18 can be an American Heritage Girl. Girls of all different backgrounds are welcome and are encouraged to join at any age! You don’t have to start as a Pathfinder (age 5) in order to gain the benefits from participating in the AHG Program.

There are five Program Levels in American Heritage Girls. Troops may offer all five Levels, if there are girls and Leaders available for each. However, it is common for new Troops to begin with only a few Levels. AHG’s multi-Level structure means that girls from all Program Levels meet together as a single Troop at the same time, though they may split into Levels for certain activities.

The American Heritage Girls Troop # 0325 held a new member annual tea party for current and prospective members on September 10, 2022, in the Basilica’s Lyceum Auditorium.

The Troop had a lot of fun during Halloween on October 2022:

This summer, we had our first formal recruitment effort at our local Old Town Alexandria Farmers Market. Every Saturday, Old Town (a historic part of Alexandria) has a farmers market with many vendors and allows two non-profits to have a table to publicize themselves. We enjoyed having a table to meet our neighbors and feature our girls. While recruitment was our purpose, we also sold AHG’s approved Giving Bean Coffee and tea as a fundraiser. We also featured our first raffle – a Giving Bean sampler of coffee and tea gift basket with a donated French press coffee maker and two George Washington mugs since our troop is so close to Mount Vernon. To our delighted surprise, a lovely young adult (featured in the photo) stopped by our table who was actually a former AHG Scout! She knew exactly who we were and proudly shared that she earned her Stars and Stripes when she was an active in AHG. Our girls were thrilled to meet her. It was an incredible opportunity, especially for our older girls, to see a true role model in this AHG alumnae.
