In a recent science class, Mrs. Costello's 6th-grade students designed and created bridges using popsicle sticks, tape, notecards, and construction paper. They discussed the importance of creating a plan before implementing the project. The photos above show the design phase and the 'testing' phase.
Her students talked about how bridges help with the social justice components of our faith. Bridges can help people out of poverty and provide opportunities for villages to grow more successful crops, etc. Additionally, they listened to an 11-minute podcast about the efforts of Emily Roebling and her contributions to the Brooklyn Bridge. Students wrote about and discussed the importance of her position during this time in history.
