Justice is the steady disposition, or habit, in someone to give other people their due, or what they are owed. A great example of a saint who followed justice was Saint Anthony. Saint Anthony was born in Padua, Italy. He joined the Franciscans which were a group of brothers who followed the example of Saint Francis of Assisi. Saint Anthony became very famous for his preaching. Saint Anthony is the patron saint of lost things. When one of his important books was lost, he prayed to God that he would find it. Turns out, his book had been stolen and when Saint Anthony prayed, the thief brought it back. We should all strive to follow Saint Anthony’s example of justice.
Prayer of Justice
Dear God, you have said that when we are just and fair; we are the light that “shines through the darkness” (Psalm 112:4). Give us the strength and wisdom to act justly in all that we do, so we can too shine bright like Saint Anthony. And please also help us to remember to return everything that we borrow. Saint Anthony, pray for us.
